Initiated Protocol, or Session Initiation
Protocol, an application-layer control protocol; a
signalling protocol for Internet Telephony. SIP can establish
sessions for features such as audio/video conferencing, interactive
gaming, and call forwarding to be deployed over IP networks, thus
enabling service providers to integrate basic IP telephony services
with Web, e-mail, and chat services. In addition to user
authentication, redirect and registration services, SIP Server
supports traditional telephony features such as personal mobility,
time-of-day routing and call forwarding based on the geographical
location of the person being called. SIP is
the protocol for Voice
over IP
Many PBX systems require an add on server
or gateway to provide SIP support and such systems often only
provide a limited set of features.
The AdvanceIP System supports SIP Trunks as an
integral part of the system so they are handled and reported on in
the same way as analogue or ISDN trunks. SIP trunks can be routed
to different locations in day and night service and appear on Busy
Lamp Field keys.
The AdvanceIP system has been tested with a wide
range of SIP trunk providers and the list is increasing all the
time. If you have a provider that has not been tested then simply
make a request via our contact us page and we would be happy to
perform the interworking tests.
